How to make sure the companies are legit

Even though these sites will all say they’re legit, you still need to make sure that they are.

How do you find out?

Do a quick Google search for the company reviews and see what people are saying about them online.

If most people have positive experiences with it and say that they’re earning points and getting paid, then you’ll know that it’s safe to sign up!

If most people complain about not being paid or say they’ve been scammed by the site, stay away from it.

However, if there are a few negative reviews out of hundreds or even thousands of positive ones – don’t worry!

Negative reviews are going to be the rule, rather than the exception. Don’t get discouraged by a few bad experiences.

Here are a few red flags you’ll want to look for when deciding whether or not to join a company:

  • You shouldn’t have to pay any money upfront. If you do have to pay, there should always be a guarantee of an activation bonus.
  • If what you read online doesn’t sound right or it’s fishy, then don’t sign up for it.
  • If a website promises to pay you thousands of points per week but they don’t explain how their system works, they’re probably not legit.
  • If they won’t send you contact information or hide behind a million disclaimers, then they’re probably not legit.
  • If it sounds too good to be true – it is. Don’t sign up for it and don’t waste your time because you’re not going to get paid.

Can you get paid a lot of money?

The short answer is, it all depends.

On how much time you devote to the site and how many surveys you qualify for that pay well.

But, if you’re just starting out, your earnings might be small – $5 or $10 here and there.

Don’t give up though!

In time, you can make a decent amount of side hustle money, but I can’t guarantee that you will be making a ton from these sites.

So if you are looking to find a way to replace your full-time income, then I don’t suggest joining any of these sites.

However, if you’re looking for extra income that will pay for the occasional trip out on the weekends or maybe help with your monthly bills then check them out!

How to get paid to search on the web: Key Takeaways

There are many ways to get paid searching on the internet – all you have to do is sign up for them and complete the tasks in order to get started!

Once again, take some time to research the companies before signing up to make sure that they’re legit.

And if they sound too good to be true, they probably are!

What is ThredUp?

Before I start talking about how to sell clothing on ThredUp, let’s quickly go over what ThredUp is.

ThredUp is an online marketplace that allows anyone to buy and sell their clothes with other people across the country.

They provide a simple, hassle-free way to get rid of your gently used clothing in a matter of minutes.

You simply send your clothes using their free clean-out service.

Pros of Selling on ThredUp

Here are a few other reasons why people love selling on ThredUp:

  • They provide a hassle-free way to sell clothes online. It takes a few minutes of your time and you’ll get the money in your pocket right away!
  • You have peace of mind knowing that your item will be mailed directly to the buyer so it’s less likely to get lost or damaged.

  • Finally, selling on ThredUp is a great option if you’re looking to get cash quickly for your items.

Cons of Selling on ThredUp

While selling online does have many benefits, there are some drawbacks as well.

Here are a few reasons why people don’t like selling on ThredUp:

Your items may not be accepted if they don’t meet a certain condition.

Unlike other platforms like eBay, or Facebook Marketplace, you cannot list all your items for sale.

They have their own rules that must be followed during the selling process.

You have to ship your items using their free clean-out service which can take a little bit of time and effort.

Before you start selling on ThredUp, make sure to read their requirements carefully in order to avoid any problems or mistakes.

I have listed them below, so make sure you follow them before sending your clothes.

The process may take longer than expected depending on how many items you have to sell.

Not a great platform to sell designer clothing.

Although you can sell trendy items on the site, they do not cater to high-end brand buyers.

That is why if you have a lot of designer items, you may want to try other platforms like Depop or The RealReal.

Not only do they cater to buyers who love brands but they can also help authenticate and price your items accurately.

That way you can be sure that your items will sell at a higher price and you won’t have to worry if they’re real or not.

Steps to Selling on ThredUp

Now that you know what ThredUp is all about, let’s get into the nitty-gritty of how to sell clothes online.

Here are the steps you will need to follow in order to successfully sell your item(s) on ThredUp.

1.) Fill up your cleanout kit

Using their clean-out service means that you will be given a kit by ThredUp where you can fill it with gently used items that you do not need or use.

2.) Mail your kit

Once you have filled up your kit, just place it in the mail using the prepaid shipping label.

3.) ThredUp takes care of the rest

Once ThredUp receives your items and approves them, everything will be worry-free since they take care of the rest!

Upfront Vs. Consignment Item Payout

When you are selling clothes on ThredUp, you will be given two options for payouts for your items, upfront or consignment.

Upfront Item

Upfront item means that the clothing you sent is in great condition, on-trend, and in season.

If they consider your clothing upfront, you will be given a payout right away and you don’t need to wait for it to sell on the site to get paid.

You can expect to get paid 5% to 80% of the anticipated selling price on ThredUp.

Consignment Item

If your clothing is considered a consignment item, it means that even though it is in good condition, it may not sell right away.

You will only be paid once your item has sold on the site, and it will be based on the selling price.

Once they sell your items for you, you can expect to get paid 5% to 80% of the sale value.

The items can be up for consignment for up to 84 days, but after 7 days you can reclaim the item if you do not like the way ThredUp attempts to sell your clothes.

Below is also ThredUp’s payouts table that will allow you to see how you will get paid for your items.

selling on thredup

ThredUp clothing quality standards

Before you start selling clothing online, there are a few things you should know.

ThredUp has specific quality standards so make sure that your items fall within their guidelines before you send them your clothes!

In order to pass their inspection, all clothing must be:

  • In good condition and wearable. This means no fading, shrinkage, and pilling.
  • The clothing must also be damage-free without stains, rips, and odors.
  • They must not be altered, this includes missing sizing information.

So before you send out your clothes, make sure they are clean, in good condition, and free of any damage or alterations.

Otherwise, ThredUp will decline and return the items for you.

How to source clothes to sell on ThredUp

Sourcing clothes is the first step towards selling online!

While it may seem like a daunting task at first, I promise sourcing clothing only gets easier once you get the hang of it.

Give yourself a good amount of time to do some research and come up with a plan.

I recommend spending a few hours going through your closet and sorting out the clothes that you’d like to sell into two piles – keep and sell.

If you’re having a hard time deciding which items to sell, try asking yourself these three questions:

Does this still fit me? If the answer is yes, then it may be worth keeping.

Have I worn it in the last year or two? If not, then you can probably sell it!

But keep in mind that brand new items should only be sold if they are unopened.

Do I love it? If the answer is no, then you should probably get rid of it.

Be honest with yourself and you’ll have a much easier time going through your closet!

Once you’ve completed that step, go through every piece of clothing and make sure it meets ThredUp’s quality standards.

If it doesn’t, then you can try selling it on eBay, or Poshmark since they are less strict.

After you go through your own closet, you can also look for clothes on other platforms if you want to sell more items online.

Here are a few places where you can source clothing to sell:

Thrift stores

Designer clothing resale shops

Fashion swap groups on Facebook

Online classifieds like Craigslist

Keep in mind that you won’t need to source everything at once.

After a few weeks of searching, you should have enough items to send in your first box!

Just make sure you’ve done the research and know what ThredUp will accept before sending anything.

Tips for Successful Selling

Now that you have all the information needed to sell on ThredUp, it’s time to learn some tips and tricks about selling clothes online.

These are the things I’ve learned as well as talking to other people who’ve sold on the site.

Having Multiple Items – While it’s definitely possible to try and sell clothes online on your own, I’ve found that selling in bulk makes it so much easier!

Not only will you make more money with everything combined but you’ll also be able to get your items out faster!

I recommend picking a handful of items you’d like to sell and sending them all at once in their cleanout kit.

Picking the Right Items – When you think about selling clothes on ThredUp, you have to make sure that you are choosing the right items that people will actually want to buy.

You’ll want to focus on selling items that are in good condition, fit most people, and can be worn in several different ways.

Overall, selling clothes on ThredUp is a fairly easy and fast process!

Make Money Flipping Phones for Major Profit

Have you ever thought about making money from selling used cell phones?

You might be surprised to learn that there is a lot of money in the used phone market.

In fact, it’s estimated that over $17 billion worth of phones is sold each year!

This means there is a lot of potential for someone looking to start their own business.

If you want to make some extra cash and have an eye for spotting valuable items, then this could be just what you need.

There are many ways to get started with this business and we will explore them all right here!

Why is flipping phones so profitable?

Reselling phones for a profit is a unique business and there are many reasons why it’s so lucrative.

The main reason is that the demand for used cell phones remains high.

Even as manufacturers make new devices, people still prefer to buy used ones because they cost less and aren’t tied to any particular contract.

Another reason is that the industry has a relatively low barrier to entry.

There are expensive parts of launching a business such as renting an office space and purchasing equipment, but you don’t need those things to get started flipping phones.

How to find the most profitable phones to sell

Once you have decided to start flipping phones, your next step is to decide what kind to sell.

There are a few factors to consider when trying to find the most profitable phones.

The first is condition.

Take a look at the resale value for each phone and choose one that isn’t too beat up, especially if you plan on selling it online.

The particular model of the phone can also have an impact on the resale value.

While there are always exceptions to this rule, popular models tend to have higher values.

As you can probably imagine, newer models also sell for more money.

The most profitable model in most cases is one that was released 2-3 years ago and has a high storage capacity.

Finally, you can also consider the color when choosing a phone.

While it seems trivial, different colors have been found to sell for different prices.

For example, black and dark colors tend to fetch more money than lighter colors.

How much money can you make from resale?

There is a lot of potential when it comes to making money by flipping phones online.

In fact, some people sell their phones for twice the original value.

If you want to go this route, then you will need to know how much a phone is worth in order to make a good profit.

You can do this by looking up the price of the phone online.

There are several websites that will give you an estimate of what a used model is worth.

A few websites where you can start your search are SellCell and BankmyCell.

Once you have an idea of how much the phone is worth, take a look at your local area for used phones to buy.

Where can you find used phones to sell?

Now that you know the ins and outs of flipping phones, it’s time to get started.

If you don’t already have one on hand, here are some places you can start looking for used phones.

Craigslist

One of the best places to look for used phones is Craigslist.

You can search within your local area and see what kinds of options you have.

This way, you can take a look at what’s available and choose the one that will give you the biggest profit margin.

Your friends and family members

Your friends and family may have one that you can buy, and be willing to sell at a discounted price.

This is a great place to start, especially if you do not yet have the capital to make a big purchase.

Friends and family may also be able to give you some good advice on where else to look for used phones.

Garage sales or flea markets

Another option for finding used cellphones is garage sales and flea markets.

These venues are not often the best place to find high-value phones, but they may give you an idea of how much-used models are worth in your area.

This can also be very helpful when determining if you want to move forward with flipping phones or not.

eBay

eBay can be a great place to start looking for used phones because you do not have to worry about dealing with strangers in person.

One of the best ways to find a good deal on a phone is by keeping an eye out for someone who has multiple auctions going at the same time.

If the person is selling several phones at once, you can get a good deal because they want to get rid of all of their used goods.

Before you purchase a phone to flip

We know it can be exciting to find a great deal on a phone, but that doesn’t always mean that you should follow through with the purchase.

Before buying anything, here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • When you are trying to flip phones online, it’s important that you don’t waste your time or money on a phone that no one will want to buy. While this may seem obvious, it is a mistake that many new sellers make.
  • Make sure that you are not buying a stolen phone. This can get you into legal trouble or at least cause problems when you go to resell the phone.
  • Do not buy one that has been hacked because it will be worthless.
  • Make sure that the phone is unlocked, otherwise, you won’t have much luck selling it.
  • Check to make sure that it has a clean ESN or MEID. A clean ESN or MEID means that the phone has not been reported stolen, lost, or blacklisted.

These are just a few of the things that you should keep in mind when shopping for used cell phones.

What do you need to start reselling phones?

By now, you probably have a good idea of what it takes to buy and sell used cell phones.

However, there are some things that you will want to consider before taking the plunge into this industry.

Here are a few of the things that you will need in order to get started:

A computer

Since you will be looking at a lot of used cellphones online, it is important that you have a good enough internet connection.

You can always get out and check out the phones in person, but this may limit some of your options.

A digital camera

It is important that you have a good camera for taking photos of the phone once you are ready to list your item for sale.

This is especially important for higher-end phones and will make it much easier to convince someone that they want your product over another seller.

flipping phones

Phone Check and Test App

This app will help you determine if the phone is in good working condition.

You don’t want to spend time and money on a phone that is broken, so this app will give you all of the information that you need.

Now that you know what it takes to start flipping phones for profit, it’s time to put your newfound knowledge.

Where can you start flipping phones

Once you have the right phones to sell, it’s time to find buyers!

Here are a few of the best places to start looking for buyers:

Craigslist

Craigslist is a great place to start looking for interested buyers because they can see your phone and make an offer without having to pay any fees.

However, it may take some time before you find someone who is interested in buying your product.

eBay

On eBay, you have the option of setting up an auction or a “Buy It Now” price.

Setting up an auction is great because it will allow you to sell your phone for whatever amount it is worth.

However, if you are not sure how much people are willing to pay for the phone, setting a price can be very beneficial.

Amazon

Amazon is a great place to list your cellphone because it is well-known and has a very high traffic rate.

This will be beneficial for two reasons: you will get lots of buyers and they will be able to pay using PayPal, which is safer than other options.

Gazelle

Gazelle is a company that you can get in touch with and will offer you money for your used phone.

Most of the time, this amount will be lower than what the phone is actually worth because they need to make a profit.

However, selling directly to them will allow you to get cash for your device and you will not need to do any work.

SellCell

SellCell is another option that will allow you to start flipping phones for cash.

You will be able to compare prices with other sellers and this is great because it means you can get the best price possible.

Trademore

Trademore is a site that you can check out and it will have a variety of buyers looking to find used phones.

You will also be able to see how much your phone is currently worth so you can get the best price.

Once you have found a buyer, it’s time to make the sale!

Tips for selling your phone

Here are some helpful tips that will allow you to start flipping phones quickly and without any problems:

Photos & Description

You are going to want to use high-quality photos of your product.

Your buyer will want to see exactly what you are selling and get close-up photos to make sure that the phones are in good working condition.

In addition, you should also include a detailed description on your listing.

This will make it much easier for the customer to understand the condition of your phone.

flipping phones

Shipping Terms

Make sure that you know exactly how shipping will work before you agree to anything with your buyer.

Some buyers may ask for free shipping, while others will offer their own shipping solution.

Either way, it’s a good idea to understand what your responsibilities are going to be before the sale.

Price It Right

It’s important to make sure that you set a price for your phone that will allow you to make a profit no matter how low the buyer is willing to go.

You can always start with a lower price and see what they will pay, but it’s a good idea to have a base price in mind.

While you don’t want to lose money on your phone, you also don’t want to ask for too much.

Do you have to learn phone repair?

Even though phone repair skills are helpful to start flipping phones for profit, it is not necessary.

You just need to make sure that you buy the right phones for this business and as long as they are in good condition, you can start selling right away.

However, if there is something wrong with your phone and you don’t know how to repair it, you may have a hard time selling your product.

This means that while you don’t have to learn how to fix phones for this business, it can be very beneficial if you do know how to make some repairs.

You can sell them yourself on sites like eBay or Craigslist to get cash for clothes online that will give you some extra income.

You will get the most money selling them yourself, but you’ll still have to pay for shipping and it can take a long time to sell everything.

Option 2. Sell Them to Consignment Shops or Secondhand Stores

Another way of getting cash for clothes is by taking them to consignment shops like Buffalo Exchange.

You’ll get less money than selling them on your own, but you won’t have to pay for shipping and these places are better at advertising the clothes to make them easier to sell.

Option 3. Donate Them to Charity Charities

They will often accept your old clothes because they will sell them and use the money to help others.

You won’t get any cash, but it can be a nice alternative if you don’t want your clothes anymore.

Tips for selling and getting cash for clothes online

Before you start selling your used clothes, make sure you are following all the rules for each marketplace.

Here are a few things to keep in mind before you sell:

1. Make sure to take a good picture of the item you want to sell.

You don’t have to hire a professional photographer, but make sure it is clear and in focus so buyers can get a good idea of what your item looks like.

2. Make sure to research the right price point for your items before you list them.

This ensures that you will get what your clothes are worth and it makes sure buyers know exactly how much they’re spending.

3. Include all the details about them so potential buyers know exactly what they’re purchasing.

This includes the brand, color, size, and condition of the item.

4. Be sure to ship your items as soon as possible.

This makes it easier for buyers because they know that you’re going to actually send them the items and it shows you’re a serious seller who takes care of their customers.

5. Keep proof of shipping so if there are any problems later, you have the evidence to back up your claims.

6. Be sure to communicate with buyers if there are any issues with payment or shipping.

It will keep both of you accountable for your actions and it also shows that you are a responsible seller who cares about their customers’ needs.

7. Keep a record of your earnings so you can keep track of how much you’re making and whether or not it’s worth it to sell more items on the same platform.

8. Ship your clothes with care to avoid wrinkling or damaging them which will make people less likely to buy from you in the future.

9. Be sure to set up a clear return policy so buyers know what their rights are.

This is a good idea especially if you want to ensure repeat customers.

10. Give your items a thorough cleaning before you send them.

Most of the marketplaces that you sell on will also tell you what they require in terms of cleanliness before clothes are sold.

Now that you know what to keep in mind before selling your clothes online, it’s time to find out which marketplace is best for you.

The number of places where you can get cash for clothes ranges from large to niche so be sure to choose what’s best for your personal needs.

This will help ensure a smooth experience and more money in your pocket!

What Is a Lifestyle Blog?

A lifestyle blog is a type of content creation that typically focuses on personal style, beauty, health, fitness, recipes, travel, and much more.

The best part about starting your own lifestyle blog is that it doesn’t have to be extremely difficult or expensive.

All you need to get started is a computer with an internet connection and a few hours of your day (to write posts, take pictures, edit pictures, etc).

Setting up your blog is actually pretty easy if you know what you’re doing.

Lucky for you, I’ve written this guide with the intention of helping YOU get started creating a lifestyled blog from scratch!

Is Lifestyle Blogging Right for You?

Before you get started, you should think about how much time and effort you are willing to put into creating content for your blog.

Like any other type of platform, a lifestyled blog requires regular writing and updating in order to keep your readers engaged.

If you aren’t expecting anything out of starting your own blog except maybe a creative outlet, then you should go for it!

On the other hand, if you are expecting a ton of money on your blog right out of the gate, then this might not be your best option just yet.

It’s important that you have the right expectations before deciding whether or not it is something that you want to do for a living.

A few things that you need to know about starting a lifestyle blog:

content planner

Printable Blog Content Planner

This 10-page blog content planner can be printed to use all year long and will help you break down tasks into manageable chunks!

It’s not free!

If you want your website to look beautiful and professional, then you need to invest in some type of web hosting and theme.

Think about how much you would charge someone for your time if they wanted you to build them a brick-and-mortar store with all the bells and whistles.

You would probably charge at least a few thousand dollars (if not much more) for the keys to your newly built store, right?

Well, it’s no different when it comes to building an online business.

It will take time!

Remember that you are completely in control of how quickly your blog grows and what it becomes.

The best bloggers are the ones that consistently create quality content for their readers to enjoy, so make sure you set aside some time each day to work on your blog.

It depends on what niche you choose!

We’ve seen lifestyle blogs come in all shapes and sizes, but it’s important to remember that not all niches are created equal.

In other words, some options will be much more profitable than others so you should do your research to cover yourself!

Not all niches will be profitable.

If you choose something too specific, there probably won’t be enough people searching for it online in order to make a substantial amount of money.

That being said, if you want to create a lifestyled blog that is more than just a hobby and what you would want to do full-time, then you should consider a niche that has enough interest but not too much that your competition will be too hard.

A few profitable niches:

Fashion and style

Food and cooking

Parenting

Home decor and design

Travel and adventure.

Do you see a trend in the type of niche that is profitable?

It’s one that focuses on visual content like fashion, food, parenting, home decor, and travel!

If you don’t think that you would be able to create top-notch pictures and videos for your blog (or if you simply don’t want to do it), then you will need to pay someone else to do it for you.

Fortunately, there are plenty of website design companies out there that will be more than happy to help out for a reasonable price.

You can visit sites like Fiverr to get affordable and quality content.

Lifestyle Blog Niche Ideas

Before you get started, you should have a plan in place regarding what type of content your blog will be centered around.

It’s okay if it changes over time – even the best bloggers have evolved their style and content from the early beginning!

A few types of popular lifestyle blogging include:

Fashion

A fashion lifestyle blog would focus on the latest trends in fashion, beauty tips, and the best places to find cute clothes at affordable prices.

This type of blog would probably be read and shared the most by women, but you could also branch out into men’s fashion as well.

If you love fashion and enjoy writing about it, this could be a perfect niche for you!

Get inspiration from these popular fashion bloggers:

Color Me Courtney is by the fun and quirky Courtney Quinn

Atlantic-Pacific which is run by fashionista Blair Edie

A home decor blog focuses on all things design!

This is perfect if you love everything from jewelry displays to DIY projects for the home.

Not only will you be able to help your readers get inspired, but you could also make connections with advertisers that sell home decor products.

If you are the type of person that has a killer IKEA hack for every room in your house, then this is definitely one to consider!

Food & Recipes

This type of lifestyle blogging could bring in serious money because people are constantly looking for new recipes to try!

If this is your niche of choice, then you should seriously consider becoming an expert in the kitchen.

Not only will it make people more interested in what you have to say, but it could really help with brand partnerships once the blog gains some traction.

Similar to fashion bloggers who can partner with brands like Nordstrom and Top Shop, food bloggers can work with companies like KitchenAid and Betty Crocker to create unique recipes.

Get inspiration from these popular food & recipe style bloggers:

Finance

This niche is perfect if you’re looking to share how to save and make money with your audience.

It’s also helpful if you enjoy writing about personal finance, investing, taxes, and anything else related to making money online!

Many people are interested in this type of lifestyle blogging because it can be difficult to talk about finances.

It’s a sensitive topic for many people, so it can be helpful to have a blog full of tips and resources!

Get inspiration from these popular finance blogs:

Making Sense of Cents is run by Michelle Schroeder-Gardner who shares everything related to personal finance.

Broke Millennial is a great resource for newbies and veterans alike who want to up their finance game, it is run by Erin Lowry.

Beauty & Tutorials

This niche is all about sharing your favorite products and experimenting with new ones!

If you’re obsessed with beauty products or sharing makeup tips, this could be a great fit for you.

Like fashion blogs, this can be very successful if you are up-to-date on the latest trends.

You could share your thoughts on what’s new at stores like Sephora or Ulta, and get paid to try out new products by sharing beauty tips.

Get inspiration from these popular beauty blogs:

The Beauty Department has tons of beauty inspiration for any occasion!

These are just a handful of the many types of blogs you can start.

You may find that there’s not much competition in your chosen field, or that it’s too saturated.

Just remember that if it doesn’t work out, you can always start a new blog!

How To Start Your Blog and Make Money

Once you have chosen your blog’s niche, it’s time to focus on starting the actual blog!

This means coming up with a catchy name, finding the perfect URL (domain), hosting the site, and getting ready to start writing.

Choosing your lifestyle blog name

A great way to come up with ideas for your new blog’s name is to brainstorm a list of topics that are important to you.

For example, if you choose to focus on food and recipes, list out words that are associated with these posts.

These words could be “dinner,” “baking,” or anything else that is relevant!

This list of words will help you come up with blog names that are perfect for your site.

Make sure that your name is recognizable and your potential audience will automatically understand what the blog is about!

Remember clear is better than clever.

Once you’ve decided on your blog’s name, it’s time to choose your hosting plan.

Choosing a hosting plan for your blog

A hosting plan is necessary to have a fully functional blog. It is where your blog is stored so people can read it.

This part of starting a lifestyle blog may seem complicated if this is your first time blogging.

Luckily, there are tons of great places to find affordable hosting plans.

For newbie bloggers we recommend Bluehost.

They’re very beginner-friendly and they offer dedicated WordPress hosting plans as well as a free domain name.

They are also super affordable and have a special $2.75/month deal on all new hosting plans!

For bloggers who are ready to invest a little more, we suggest WPEngines hosting plan.

They offer high-performance hosting that’s perfect for serious bloggers.

The cost is a bit higher at $22.50/month for the basic plan but it’s worth it for the power of the site.

Another company that we highly recommend is Siteground.

They have a variety of hosting plans that have high customer satisfaction rates.

We suggest purchasing their GrowBig plan which starts at $6.69/month and is a great option for bloggers who are ready to scale up their blog!

Once you’ve chosen the right plan for you, follow their instructions carefully to set up your site.

For more details on how to set up your Bluehost account and other tips, you can check out this ultimate guide to amateur blogging.

Deciding on a domain

A domain is the web address that links back to your website.

You can find these on any site and they should be .com, .net, or .org to keep things simple!

It’s very important that you purchase your domain from a reputable company so your site isn’t hacked.

When it comes to blogging, safety is key!

For beginners, we recommend BlueHost as they not only offer hosting but you can get your domain name for free, using the link here!

lifestyled blog

It is a good idea to also choose a domain name that’s the same as your blog name.

That is why it is important to check if your blog name is available for your website and social media accounts before you get attached.

Once you’ve picked your blog’s name and purchase your domain, it’s time to set up your site!

Setting up your blog theme

A great way to personalize your blog without being a professional graphic designer is to purchase a pre-made theme.

Your theme will be the look of your blog so you want to make sure you get something that is visually appealing and easy to navigate!

A great place to choose your blog theme is with WPEngine’s Studio Press which has a ton of WordPress templates that are user-friendly and customizable.

Once you’ve chosen your design, it’s time to make the finishing touches!

Add a logo and branding to your blog

One of the most important parts of your blog is its branding.

Your logo will be the first thing that people see when they land on your site so it’s important to have a great-looking image!

You can create a professional logo for free using Canva.

Canva is an online graphic design tool with thousands of free images, icons, and fonts that you can use to create the perfect logo for your blog.

If you’re looking to invest a little more into your brand we suggest checking out 99 Designs, where you can design your own logos with professional graphic designers at affordable prices starting at $99!

When designing your logo it is important to remember the following:

1. Fonts should be the same across all the social media accounts and your blog

2. Use a color scheme that works well with your branding!

3. Keep it simple!

4. Make sure to use a high-resolution image so it looks sharp on retina screens!

5. Get creative, you don’t need to hire someone to design a logo!

Once you’ve created your logo, you can use it to further customize your site!

lifestyled blog

Create Pinterest Pins for your blog posts

Pinterest is one of the top social media websites for bloggers and it’s super simple to create pin images!

You can use Canva or Adobe Spark to make these images quickly.

We suggest using a photo from your post, adding unique text, and uploading it to your article so it can be pinned and saved by your readers.

A few other things to do in order to attract more readers to your pins are:

1. Try to vary up what you pin regularly so your followers are engaged!

3. Use eye-catching titles for all of your pins!

4. Pin about five times a day to keep your blog moving in the Pinterest ranks!

5. Add pictures that are relevant to your blog posts!

Once you finish creating your pins, you can integrate them into your blog by adding Pinterest Widget to your site!

You can free plugins like Social Warfare to make pinning from your blog post easy for your readers.

Adding other blog features

Once you’ve chosen your blog theme it’s time to add some cool features to your website!

Icons and widgets are great ways to personalize your site and give visitors easy access to links such as social media accounts, email lists, or even affiliate links.

A few other things to consider are:

1. Make sure you add social share buttons to your blog posts! You can use Social Warfare for this plugin.

2. Keep your widgets up to date with any new features or changes on associated sites!

3. Don’t over-clutter your site with too many plugins because this will slow down your website.

Once you’ve added these features, it’s time to start writing posts for your blog that will attract followers!

Writing for Your Lifestyled Blog

Creating content for your blog is the most important part of blogging!

The more content you add, the more likely it is that you will attract readers and gain traffic to your site.

Here are a few things to consider when writing about different topics:

1. What can YOU bring to the table?

2. Try to create content that has your unique take on the subject.

3. What are your readers looking for?

4. Ask questions, this will encourage engagement on the site!

5. Don’t try to copy other bloggers’ work, plagiarism will get you banned by Google and it’s just not cool!

Once you have chosen an idea for a blog post, make sure you use the proper keywords in your article!

Adding keywords to your blog posts

Keywords are an important part of any blog post because they help people find your site when searching for topics on Google.

When writing your blog posts, try to use the main keywords at the beginning of your article.

Including these keywords in your articles will also help you rank better for certain topics on Google!

But you don’t want to overdo it when using one keyword because this can trigger a red flag from Google and get your site banned.

Find the right keywords

In order to find the right keywords, you will need to do some research.

There are many keyword research tools that you can use including Google Keyword Planner, Ahrefs, and SEMrush.

These tools will allow you to look up the most popular keywords associated with your topic so it’s important that you choose different keywords for each blog post!

We personally use KeySearch as our main keyword tool as it is easy to use and generates great results!

In order to use KeySearch you simply type a few words you would use to search for that topic.

For example, if you wanted to write a blog post about purple shoes, you might type in words like “best purple heels”, “affordable purple shoes”, or “popular purple shoes”.

Once you’ve typed your keywords into the search bar, KeySearch will give you results for those keywords and give you other similar phrases!

They will then show you information such as the volume which tells you how many times these keywords are being searched per month, as well as the score, which tells you how easy or hard it is to rank for this keyword.

The higher the score, the harder it is to get on the first page of Google.

So if you are a new lifestyled blog, it is best to target keywords that are scored 30 or less.

But the key is to find a keyword that is a low score but with a high search volume.

We know this may seem overwhelming, don’t worry!

With enough practice, you will get the hang of it and become an expert.

Types of Blog Posts

There are many different types of blog posts that you can write for your lifestyled blog.

Some examples include:

How-tos

To write a how-to article, the first step is to create a list of information that you would like to share.

Once you have your list, organize it into an easy-to-read article with bullet points and short paragraphs.

While writing this type of blog post, try being as clear and concise as possible!

A few examples of this type of article are how to take care of your hair, how to change the oil in your car, or how to make french toast.

Product Reviews

For a product review, you will want to include a list of information about the product.

You may also want to include a list of benefits and why someone would need or want this product!

Before writing your review, do some research on the product so you have an understanding of what it is and how it works.

Then, break down each feature of the product and explain each benefit!

This type of article is great for reviewing affiliate marketing products. If you do a great job, it can lead to a lot of sales.

Listicle articles

Listicle posts are a great way to get readers engaged with your blog!

A few examples are: “10 Amazing Travel Hacks”, “5 Ways to Organize Your House”, “10 Must-Have Beauty Products for Summer”.

Each item should be concise so that people can read the whole list with a better understanding of your content that has answered their questions.

These types of articles will not only keep the reader interested, but they will also encourage them to come back for more!

DIY articles

This type of blog post will require you to share a list of supplies needed, followed by an explanation on how to put the item together.

For DIY articles, explain each step in detail with illustrations or videos to go along with it!

When writing this type of blog post, be sure that your steps are easy to follow and simple for anyone to recreate.

Round-ups

A round-up blog post will require you to list several different things in one place!

To write a round-up article, start by choosing your topic.

You can choose something broad like “5 Stores for Perfect Workout Clothes” or something specific like “5 Stores to find the Perfect Tights”.

Once you have your topic chosen, it’s time to list out items that fit into your topic.

It is important that you include images for each item with links to go to the stores’ websites!

Writing an engaging blog post

Once you have decided on the type of post you would like to write, you’re ready to start!

When writing a blog post, always keep your audience in mind.

Think of topics that they will care about and be willing to share with their friends.

Be sure to write short paragraphs and include bullet points for easier reading.

Include images or videos when it makes sense.

Finally, ALWAYS proofread your post!

Spelling and grammar errors can leave a bad impression on readers.

If you don’t have the time to proofread, hire someone on Fiverr to do it for you!

Marketing Your Blog Posts

Now that you’ve created your blog post, you’re ready to share it with the world!

There are many different outlets that you can share your content on.

Social media websites such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram are great places to start!

Creating an account on these sites will allow you to link back to your blog so the more views you get there, the more viewers will come to your site!

Another great place you can promote your blog posts is on subreddits.

A subreddit is a forum of sorts where people of similar interests gather.

People will often post about their favorite topics on these subreddits asking for advice or feedback on something they created!

Searching and sharing on the subreddits about your topic may provide you with more viewers and comments on your blog posts!

Finally, you can promote your blog post by emailing your friends and subscribers with the link to your post!

They may share it on social media or come to your blog for more information.

Top Tips for Selling Online

Before you start listing online, it’s important to know how to sell properly so you can get the most out of your items.

Here are a few tips for reselling online:

1. Make sure you take pictures in natural lighting

It is important to take clear photos in natural lighting to ensure the best quality.

You’re more likely to get your items sold if you post high-quality images that people can see.

If your images are blurry, grainy, or highly filtered then people might not bother purchasing from you.

2. Write a description that sells the item

Include details about how much the item is used, its condition, how it works, – anything that can help you sell the item at a higher price.

Write a detailed description about the product including any blemishes or scratches if there are any.

Providing the item’s history could also be beneficial for selling if it has a significant meaning for the buyer.

3. Research your prices

Search online to see how much similar items have been listed for and use this information to price yours accordingly so you can sell it quickly and easily.

This will also help you gain a better idea of how much your items are worth.

4. Be honest about the product’s condition

If you know that there are damages or scratches on the product then you should include that in your description.

No one wants to buy a product that’s been damaged or has some sort of defect, so you should always be honest with your customers.

5. Sell high-quality products only

It’s important to build trust with your customers so they continue to purchase from you.

If you sell items that are of a lower quality, you’ll have a harder time selling them and this will discourage your buyers.

It’s best to stick with high-quality items that work properly and have no defects because this will make customers trust you more.

6. Be clear and upfront about your policies

If you’re going to offer free shipping, let your customers know. If you’re going to need a deposit on an item, make sure they know that too.

You want to be as clear and upfront with your customers so there’s no chance of confusion or misunderstandings later on down the road.

7. Be responsive and helpful

If a customer has any questions or concerns, you want to be able to help them as soon as possible.

Responding to your customers quickly will make them more likely to return and purchase from you again in the future.

8. Offer discounts every now and then

It’s always nice for your customers if they can get a discount for their purchase.

Offering them a small percentage off will be a nice way to show your appreciation for their purchase.

9. Offer incentives to return customers

If you have regular customers, thank them by offering some sort of incentive or promotion code when they place an order with you.

This will help to make them feel appreciated and they’ll be more likely to come back for another order.

10. Offer flexible payment options

It’s a good idea to offer a range of different payment options because this will make it easier for your customers.

If there are certain payment options you don’t accept, then you should let them know upfront as well.

Beginner’s Guide to Swap Housing

House swapping has been around for a long time, but many people are still unaware that it can allow you to travel the world without spending too much cash!

With almost no overhead costs it will give you a lot more freedom on your trip.

But many people do not want to swap housing because they might be afraid of what will happen.

So, to help make your first house swap as easy as possible, we’ve compiled a few tips to keep you safe and comfortable during your stay.

Swap Housing Meaning

House swapping is when two or more people sign up on a home exchange website and agree to stay in each other’s homes for a certain period of time.

Typically, you will be able to list the dates and length of your stay and the owner of the home will be able to do the same.

When you find someone you want to swap homes with, all it takes is a quick email and maybe a video call to confirm the arrangement.

Swap Housing Tips

If you are ready to start finding people to swap homes with, here are a few tips that you should keep in mind:

Find a reputable swap housing website.

There are many websites for swapping homes, but not all of them are legit.

That is why before agreeing to anything, make sure to check out the policies to see if there are any ridiculous or unfair terms for either party.

Make sure that both parties have complete trust in each other.

If you’re afraid that your prospective house swapper will not stay true to their word, then you should look for a different host or guest.

When it comes down to it, trust is the key to a successful house swap!

Be prepared with extra supplies.

As with any guests coming into your home for an extended period of time, be prepared to have extra food, toiletries, and anything else that your swappers might need while staying with you.

Be prepared for the worst.

You never know what might happen while your swappers are staying in your home.

It is always good to have some contingency plans in the event that something goes wrong.

Providing them with emergency phone numbers to call and having a first aid kit nearby are just a few things that you may want to have on hand during their stay.

Be flexible.

While house swapping, your guests will be spending several days or weeks in your home.

Because of this, it is important to be understanding if they are ever running behind on their end or if something unexpected comes up that stops them from meeting the initial expectations.

However, do not make them feel like they can get away with anything and everything under the sun either!

What guests will expect during the house swap

Once you have decided to swap homes, it is important to know what the expectations are for both of you so that everyone is on the same page.

Here are a few things that people normally expect when staying at your home:

A clean house.

It’s important to have a clean house when you are expecting guests.

This means that all areas of your home should all be tidy and neat, which includes bathrooms, kitchens, living rooms, bedrooms, etc.

Comfortable beds, with clean sheets.

We all like to sleep in comfort, so make sure to have clean sheets on all of your beds.

Remember, you want your guests to feel welcomed and comfortable!

Reliable Wi-Fi connection.

People expect a strong internet connection when they travel these days, so make sure your Wi-Fi is reliable before you expect people to use it.

Also, be sure to share the wifi password with your guests, to avoid any inconvenience.

An overall friendly atmosphere.

In order for house swapping to run smoothly, people need to be able to feel at home in your place.

Even if you are not a naturally hospitable person, try and let your swappers feel welcome when they arrive by providing them thoughtful welcome gifts.

A safe environment.

When people are traveling, they will want to feel safe and secure in your home.

Talk to your swappers about staying safe and making themselves at home during their stay.

This way, you can make sure everyone is respected and feels good in the space they are staying in.

Reliable transportation.

Even though it will not be part of your responsibility to make sure that your guests can get around town, knowing routes and having a general idea of how long it might take to get to different places can be very helpful.

So make sure to share tips on the best transportation to nearby places and main attractions.

How do I leave my home while I am away?

Leaving your home while you are away can be a little scary, especially because you will need to trust that your potential swappers are going to respect your home and leave it the way they found it.

Here are some ideas on how you can ensure that everything will be alright while you’re away:

Have them sign a contract.

When you’ve found your ideal house swapper, make sure that they agree to the terms that you have set for them to follow while they are in your home.

Ideally, the website that you use to house swap should have a contract so that the swappers have to agree to a set of rules.

By doing this, you will know exactly what they are responsible for while they are in your home and vice versa.

Leave a spare key in a very hidden spot.

If your swapper does somehow find themselves locked out of your house then leaving a spare key somewhere in the home will at least give them access to it so that they can let themselves in.

If you do not think having any extra keys lying around is safe, another option could be leaving an extra key with a trusted neighbor or friend that lives near your house.

What to look for when choosing a house swapper

There are many different things that you want to take into consideration when selecting the ideal house swapper.

Here are some ideas on what to keep in mind:

Are they responsible?

One of the most important things to think about when you are looking for a house swapper is their level of responsibility.

Before accepting a house swap, make sure that the person you’re dealing with is going to be able to respect your home, clean up after themselves, and leave it in the same condition they found it.

Ask them questions about their experience house swapping or living in a different country.

That way you have a better understanding of their experience and how they handle situations.

Do they have children?

If your potential swappers are traveling with their kids, then your situation will be a bit more different than if you were house swapping without any children involved.

It is important to remember that if there are children in the home you will need to determine whether your home is child friendly.

Make sure that any sharp corners or items you don’t want to be knocked over are out of reach and cannot be played with.

Will they respect my privacy?

Though it may be exciting to live in someone else’s home for a little while, make sure that your potential house swapper also respects your privacy and space while they are there.

If you are open to swapping with them, then they should be okay with having the place to themselves for a little while.

It is important that everyone involved knows what is expected of them so that their stay is pleasant and they don’t feel uncomfortable or unwelcome at your house.

PROS:

•  Picking up new skills along the way, like cooking dishes that are native to the region you are visiting.

•  If you are interested in interior design, then swapping homes will allow you to see how other people decorate their homes.

•  You might not feel comfortable staying in someone else’s home when you aren’t familiar with the area they live in.

•  Property owners may make demands that you are not okay with when it comes to their house rules while you are living there for a certain period of time.

•  Some homeowners might have additional plans for you during your stay, which you will need to discuss before making any agreements with them.

How to swap houses safely

One of the biggest concerns people have when they swap housing is how safe it will be for them to live in someone else’s home.

We’ll take a look at some ways you can stay as safe while you are swapping homes with someone you don’t know.

Read each homeowner’s reviews and ratings before making any agreements with them.

If there are other people who are currently using this person’s services, then they should have testimonials or reviews that you can read through before finalizing an agreement.

Watch each homeowner’s interactions with other people

If they are rude to their customers in public, then they will probably be just as rude when they are hosting you in their home.

Make sure you have a backup plan in case anything happens with your host

If they are not willing to work with you, then you can always find another homeowner who is interested in house swapping.

Don’t be afraid to step up and speak up for yourself

If you feel as though the homeowner is treating you unfairly, then let them know that you will not stand for it.

Get references from your potential host before agreeing to anything

This is a great way to check up on them and see what other people have experienced when they have used this person’s hosting services in the past.

Do not be afraid to report dangerous situations

If you feel that you are in danger at any time when you are staying with someone, then contact the authorities.

House swapping can be a great way to travel the world, but it is important that you stay safe throughout the entire process.

As long as you use common sense when you swap housing, then it shouldn’t be too difficult to find an exchange that fits your lifestyle and budget.
