Trasncription:
Hey everyone! Welcome to another episode of My Offbeat Journey, where I share with you the ups and downs of becoming a remote worker and how to make this lifestyle sustainable for yourself.
So today, I’m going to be talking to you about the three free tools you can use to create an outstanding resume because right now it’s definitely harder to stand out especially since there’s so many more people who are interested in working remotely.
So, these are the three tools that I have used before to not only create a resume, but also standout, do work etc.
1. ChatGPT
So, the first thing that I would like to recommend with you, that I know everyone has heard of by now is ChatGPT. Now, I know a lot of people talk about it to create content but also it can actually help you write emails and write your resume.
So, the first thing that I would recommend you to do is to recreate your resume and to write it so that your experiences will stand out and you can actually create different commands, that will allow ChatGPT to really understand what you want it to do.
So the more you get better at creating these commands, the better that ChatGPT will actually work for you.
So if you haven’t already, make sure to sign up for ChatGPT, it’s a free tool that you can use that you can create your resume, make it stand out.
The next thing that you can use ChatGPT for is to help you create emails. When you are writing these emails for these jobs and it will help you take those job requirements so, I would recommend taking the job requirement that these companies are putting on their site, their job boards, etc, and making sure that you’re including that in your emails, or even your cover letters and also including the right keywords in your cover letter, your resume, and also your emails.
So that they know that you are qualified for this position and you are what they are looking for.
So again, it all comes down to your commands when you’re using AI tools because if you do not provide it with the right information, it’s not going to give you the right answers. It’s not going to give you the right content. So that’s really what’s important about AI, ChatGPT is what commands you are giving it.
2. Canva
Now the next thing that I would recommend using is Canva.
Most of you, again probably have heard of Canva and one of the things that I really love about Canva is the free templates that it has and it also has conveniently – it has free remote or free resume templates and I’ve used these templates to apply for jobs as well to land online positions and it really helps because you can customize it as much as you want.
I love using Canva cause it’s really easy to use – drag-and-drop. You also don’t need to make your resume overly complicated, right? It doesn’t need to be super fancy but what you want to do is you want to make sure that it’s personalized to the position and you don’t want to create a one-size-fits-all resume because the company will definitely see through that.
So just again make sure that you’re adding keywords from the position on there making sure that you are actually qualified for the job.
If you don’t, maybe there’s other skills that you have that aligns with it that will allow you to succeed in that position anyways.
3. Wix
Now the third tool that I highly recommend is Wix. I don’t know if you’ve heard of Wix, many of you may have heard of it before, but this is a website where you can create your own free website.
Now, the great thing about Wix that I have used before is, it’s a way for you to showcase your portfolio and resume virtually.
So, instead of giving the company a PDF or through an email with a link, what you can do is you can create your own virtual resume, portfolio, etc that will allow you to stand out from the crowd, right?
So again, it’s not, you know, maybe it’s not something that most people do and what you’re going to create is something that is different so you can create that on Wix.
It’s free. It’s a drag and drop, so it’s very easy to do if you are not very savvy in terms of creating websites or designing anything, Wix is perfect for that because you don’t need to be super savvy in terms of creating websites to use this tool.
So, again the three free tools that I highly recommend for you to use to create an outstanding resume is:
One, ChatGPT to write your cover letter, resume, writing emails.
The second one is Canva for getting free templates for your resume. You don’t need to choose a super fancy one, if you don’t want to, you could just make it clear.
You want to make sure that it’s personalized.
And the third thing, like I said, is to use Wix to create a virtual portfolio or resume. So it definitely makes you stand out from the crowd.
So, those are the three things that I recommend. I’ve used them myself, they’ve worked perfectly for me. I have landed remote work with them and I hope that you can use them as well.
If you have any other recommendations for us, make sure to send me an email at hello@theoffbeatlife.com and let me know about your remote work journey, how it’s going for you and if you’re just starting out, if you’ve been at it for awhile, don’t, you know, don’t give up.
You’re going to get it, you just need to make sure that you’re applying every single day for multiple positions and not just one or two a week, right? Because it’s all about consistency and it’s all about the number of times that you are doing it.
You don’t want to just do it once or twice and wondering why you haven’t gotten the job. It’s really all about the numbers game and making sure that you are actually qualified because right now there’s a lot of people applying for that same position and you want to make sure that you’re standing out from the rest.
Alright, everyone that’s it for now. I hope to make sure that you guys are getting these online jobs, make sure that your lifestyle is sustainable with this and I will talk to you later, bye!
