What Is a Blog Niche?

Before I share the top 15 niches that will make money, let’s talk about what it actually is.

Basically, a blog niche is what you’re going to be blogging about.

It’s the topic of your site and will determine who your readers will be.

So it’s really important that you choose the right niche.

Otherwise, you’re going to end up writing a blog that no one wants to read.

And you won’t be able to make any money online because people aren’t interested in what you have to say.

Pros and Cons of Starting a Blog

Starting your own blog can be pretty overwhelming, but it’s totally worth it.

It does take a lot of time and effort to get things going, but if you stick with it, the rewards will come.

What Are the Benefits?

There are a ton of benefits when it comes to blogging.

Here are a few that you can look forward to:

  • Earn money while working from home.
  • Great source of passive income.
  • Be your own boss and set your own hours.
  • It’s a great way to network with new people and expand your audience.

What Are the Cons?

Unfortunately, there are a few cons to blogging as well.

Here are a few that you should know about:

  • It will take a lot of time and effort. Making it difficult to pursue other interests that you may have, like spending time with family or reading your favorite book.
  • Because you’re working from home, it can be pretty easy to get distracted. You have to make sure that you set aside time each day for your blog and stick with that schedule.
  • You will need to learn about SEO, keywords, and Google Adsense before you can start making money.

How To Choose a Blog Niche

Choosing a blog niche can be overwhelming.

There are hundreds of niches to choose from, and narrowing down your options can seem like an impossible task.

But it doesn’t have to be!

Here are a few tips to help you choose the perfect niche for your blog.

Figure out what you’re passionate about

The best blogs are created by people who truly love their topics.

You should write about something that you feel really strongly about.

If it’s not something that you enjoy, then this niche is probably not right for you.

Think about your hobbies and personal interests

Your blog should also align with your interests and hobbies.

If there’s a topic that you’re really interested in, then you’re more likely to write about it regularly.

It will help if you have a unique voice that your audience can relate to as well.

You want to create a space where people feel comfortable and can connect with you.

Consider what kind of content is already out there

Before you start blogging, take a look around the web and do a Google search for related topics.

You can also check out some of your favorite blogs to see what kind of content they have.

If yours is similar, there’s nothing wrong with that as long as you are sharing your own unique voice.

And make sure to always ask yourself if there is a new angle that you could do on this topic?

Make sure your blog is profitable

Starting a blog should be about more than just passion and interest.

You need to make sure that you can actually make money with it!

Blogging is a great way to make money, but only if you know the right niche.

Frequently Asked Questions

Now that you’ve seen the list of the best niches, here are some of the frequently asked questions that I am answering:

“What’s wrong with just picking a random niche and trying it out?”

Nothing is wrong with this.

But in order to start making money, you have to find a blog that has the potential to grow and become popular.

If you pick a niche just because you like it, then there is no guarantee that other people will be interested in your content too.

“How do I know what’s profitable?”

There are lots of ways to figure out what is profitable.

You can usually find information on the most popular niches through Google Trends or Alexa (both are free tools).

After you find a profitable niche, you will have a better chance of earning money from your blog.

“Are there any topics that are off-limits?”

Yes.

You should never post anything that is copied or stolen.

If you plagiarize someone else’s work, then Google will catch the mistake and your blog will be penalized for it.

“What is the best way to monetize my site?”

There are several ways that you can monetize your blog:

Affiliate Marketing: You place links on your website that promote products and services from different companies.

If a reader decides to purchase one, then you will receive a commission.

If you are interested in earning money through affiliate marketing, then you can check out this list of the best affiliate networks.

Sponsorships: You are able to acquire sponsors for your blog that pay you money every time you post about them or their products.

Display Ads: You can display ads on your site that are provided by Google Adsense or other ad providers like Mediavine.

Product Sales: You can sell your own products like templates, courses, eBooks, and anything else you can sell online.

If you are able to earn money from any of these options, then it’s possible for you to start making money online.

And since blogs are easier to start than ever before, now’s the perfect time to begin sharing your expertise with the world.

What is a content writer?

Put simply, a content writer writes articles for blogs or websites.

This job involves a lot of research and communication skills, since you’ll need to find relevant information to include in your posts.

You also have to be able to write a lot of different content in your field, so you’ll need to be familiar with different styles and types of writing.

For example, if you are writing about technology, you have to know how to stay on top of the latest trends so you can write about them.

But if you are writing an opinion piece or a more in-depth article, you need the research skills to back up what your saying.

The cool thing is that becoming a content writer doesn’t necessarily require you to go back to school or study for years.

You can learn most of it with the right courses and certificates.

Here are some of the most important requirements (besides having a love for writing).

Your Writing Must be Clear, Concise, and Conversational

In other words, your readers should always know what you’re trying to say as soon as they see a sentence on the page.

Be sure that each of your ideas flows from one to the next without requiring your readers to go back and reread anything.

You Must Know Your Audience

In other words, who are you writing for?

Are you targeting a general audience or a more specific demographic?

A general audience means that your content can be understood by as many people possible.

If your aim is a specific audience, then your material will have to be geared towards that group to help them solve a specific problem.

You Must Know Your Subject Matter

If you want to be a good content writer, you need to know your stuff.

That means understanding all about the latest trends in your content niche.

You should also be able to research what you don’t already know.

Because the more knowledge you have, the better equipped you are to write materials that will help your audience.

Content Writing Niches

As a content writer, you may find yourself wondering what sorts of topics and niches are the most popular among businesses and webmasters who need content.

Here is a list of some of the most popular niches for content writers:

Marketing

This is a broad category that involves helping businesses promote themselves and their brand online.

You might write blog posts for a company website, pitch ideas to business owners, or create videos and social media content.

There is also more specific marketing niche like SEO (search engine optimization), which helps businesses make sure their website shows up in Google search results for certain keywords.

Writing skills are always in demand here!

Entertainment

This involves writing about music, TV shows, movies, celebrities, and more.

You can write reviews or share recaps of your favorite shows.

This niche is very broad, so it’s important to have some specific knowledge about the topic you want to cover.

For example, if you are reviewing movies, do you know enough about the movie industry that you could write a piece of content that would actually be interesting?

If not, then this might not be an effective niche for you.

Tech

This is a very popular niche that involves writing about new gadgets, emerging technology, and the latest apps.

To be successful in this niche, you’ll need to stay on top of news headlines and trends (and know which ones to focus on).

You should also have an idea of what kinds of products your target audience cares about and why.

This can be a very lucrative niche, so it’s worth looking into.

Fashion

This is a popular category that involves writing about new trends, style advice, fashion show coverage, celebrity style, and more.

If you love fashion and have been following major news in the industry, this might be the right niche for you!

Travel

If you’re passionate about traveling and love writing about your adventures, then travel blogging could be for you.

You’ll write about your trips and give tips for other would-be travelers.

Just remember that as with any blog, you’ll need to update content regularly to stay in front of your audience.

Otherwise they might lose interest and stop reading your blog.

Finance

People are always interested in learning more about money management, so this is an evergreen topic.

You could write about the latest trends in the financial market or offer advice on how to save money.

Either way, you’ll need to know a lot about the topic and be able to communicate that information in an easy-to-understand way.

Health

This niche may involve writing about nutrition, fitness, sleep habits, wellness, and more.

Having some background in health sciences can help you write more effectively here.

But if you’re not a doctor or nurse, don’t worry.

You can still be successful in this niche if you know how to research and communicate information in an engaging way.

Parenting

This niche is perfect for mothers, fathers, or anyone who loves spending time with the family.

You could write about anything from meal planning ideas to DIY projects for kids.

To succeed, you’ll need to know how to communicate in a way that is easy-to-understand and helpful for parents.

Food

This is a broad topic that involves writing about everything from recipes to restaurant reviews to the best brunch spots in your city .

Pick a specific niche and you’ll have an easier time building an audience.

As you can see, there are many content writing niches to choose from.

Take some time to think about what interests you and explore different topics that will help you stand out.

It’s also important to consider your strengths and what you’re most passionate about.

Choosing the Right Niche for You

The right content niche is the one that aligns with your expertise and interests.

For example, if you love to travel and go on trips often, that’s a great topic for you to write about.

If cooking is your passion, then food could be an excellent option as well (just make sure you learn how to research and write well about food).

Think about your hobbies or interests.

Do you like to spend your weekends hiking?

Enjoy reading about the latest technology trends?

Have a passion for travel or parenting?

All of these things are great topics that will attract an audience. All you have to do is research what people want to know about and share your knowledge with them.

If none of these topics seem like a good fit for you, don’t give up.

If you have a knack for writing and love to share your thoughts with others, there’s a perfect content writing niche out there waiting to be discovered.

And it is always a good idea to try different topics, even if they’re not the right fit.

You never know where your writing will take you!

Freelance Writer vs. Full Time Writer: Key Differences

There are a few key differences between freelance writing and full time writing jobs. One of the biggest differences is the amount of flexibility that each one offers.

With freelance writing, you have the freedom to choose your own hours and work from anywhere in the world. This can be a great option for writers who want to be able to travel or who prefer to work odd hours.

However, it also means that you are responsible for finding your own clients and managing your own workload. In contrast, full time writing jobs typically offer regular hours and a steady paycheck.

Although, there has been a rise in flexible working  options within the writing field, usually these positions are not focused on only one type of writing craft.

So, if you’re looking for a steady income that allows you to focus on one specific type of writing such as blogging or copywriting, then freelance writing may be a better option than full time jobs.

So, which one is right for you? That ultimately depends on your goals, preferences, and lifestyle. If you want the freedom to work from anywhere and set your own hours, then freelance writing is probably a good fit for you.

But if you’re looking for a steadier paycheck, then a full time writing job might be a better choice. Either way, there are plenty of opportunities available in the world of writing, so you’re sure to find an option that works for you!

How To Become a Better Writer

If you want to get paid writing, you need to work on your skills.

It’s not as hard as you might think and with a bit of experience under your belt, you’ll surely become better.

Here are some tips that will help:

Look for jobs that fit your writing skills

You might think that all jobs are the same, but that’s not true.

Some require you to write blog posts, while others ask for news articles.

The niches will also be different so there will be a lot of topics to choose from.

To find out what kind of work you enjoy doing the most, choose a few niches that you like and apply for a job or two.

Once you get more experienced, you’ll be able to narrow down and choose the type of work you want to do based on your skills and interests.

Make sure your content is readable

Before submitting any articles, always proofread your work.

Read it aloud so you can catch awkward phrasing or misspelled words.

Don’t submit anything until it’s 100% error-free otherwise, you’ll end up getting rejected.

Grammarly: Great Writing Simplified

Learn how to create mistake free writing using Grammarly as your assistant.

Accept jobs only when you can deliver

It’s easy to get tempted by the number of jobs that will be available online, but don’t make a mistake and take on more than you can handle.

Otherwise, it will take you longer to complete the job and you’ll end up delivering something that’s poor quality.

Weigh your options and choose jobs that match your current schedule or one that won’t make you burn out quickly.

Prepare a portfolio

if you want to get paid writing, you need to show examples of your work.

You can include some sample articles in your portfolio, but it’s even better to have an online space where potential employers can look at all of your content.

If you don’t have any writing experience, I highly recommend starting a blog.

You can create a free blog on platforms such as WordPress and then add your articles to it.

That way, you’ll have an online portfolio that potential employers can check out and all you need to do is update it every now and then with new articles.

Do your homework

It’s always a good idea to read past articles that were published on the site you’re planning on writing for, just to get familiar with what they’ve already written.

This will give you an idea of their style and tone, as well as some suggestions on what to include in your articles.

After all, you don’t want to write something that’s already been published by them.

Be respectful of deadlines

If an employer asks you to deliver the work by a certain date, make sure you meet it.

After all, there’s nothing worse than having an unfinished article or one that has to be edited several times.

Take your time to research, write and proofread each article so your employer doesn’t have to do the extra work.

I mean, that’s what they’re paying you to do so it would be a shame if you didn’t deliver on time and submit the best content.

These are just a few tips that I find very useful when it comes to becoming a better writer and finding online jobs.

In fact, these have helped me in my own freelance writing career so I know they work.

The most important thing is to make sure you enjoy what you’re doing because if you don’t, you won’t be very good.

So, find a style that works for you, and remember to keep these tips in mind when you’re writing.

What Type of Niches Is Best for Finding Online Jobs?

If you’re just starting out, I recommend choosing a niche you’re already familiar with.

You don’t want to apply for jobs in a topic that you have no idea about because it will be difficult to write something impactful.

Instead, find a niche that you’re interested in and apply for a few jobs in it.

Once you get more experienced, you can start choosing the type of work you want and find enjoyable.

But, this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t challenge yourself.

If you like writing about health and fitness, try applying for a few jobs in other niches as well such as finance or technology.

This will help you expand your knowledge and apply what you’ve learned to different types of work.

After all, it’s important that you take each opportunity that comes your way and that you apply for jobs even if it’s not in the niche you’re most interested in.

You never know, you might end up loving the new niche you’re writing about even more.

Here are a few writing niches that are great to start out with when looking for jobs:

Health and fitness – this is one of the most popular niches, but also one that requires a lot of research in order to write the best content possible.

That being said, there are lots of job opportunities because people will always need advice about their health and fitness.

Animals – pet owners are always looking for advice about their furry friends, so this is a perfect niche to get into if you like writing and animals.

The good news is that there are lots of pet-related sites online and they all need writers who can educate their readers on the topic.

Technology – this is a great niche because there are lots of online resources that offer jobs for writers.

For example, if you know about Android phones and other related products, then try to find an online job by applying to different sites that allow you to write about them.

Finance – if you have an interest in money and investments, there are lots of opportunities to find jobs by writing for sites that offer financial advice or sell products related to finance.

This niche is growing fast because people need help when it comes to managing their money.

Travel – this is another great niche to try if you like exploring because there are lots of websites that offer these services.

You can also find opportunities to write for travel magazines, but you’ll need experience before they hire you because their standards are pretty high.

So try getting experience first and then apply for those types of jobs.

Food, drink, restaurants – everyone likes to eat out or cook at home.

So if you love food, this is a perfect niche because people love reading about recipes and the best food to eat.

Even if you don’t have any experience in this type of writing, it’s clear that online jobs are available for anyone who wants to try their hand at this type of content.

Home and living – this is another great niche because people always want to improve the look of their homes with new furniture, decor, or design ideas.

What’s important is that you keep your information relevant and updated because people will only read content if it’s up-to-date and interesting.

These are just a few examples of popular niches that you could explore in order to find jobs as a freelance writer.

Types of Freelancing Jobs

Now that you know the best niches, it’s time to look at the different types of available jobs that you can apply for.

Writing online requires a lot more than just writing, so focus on the type of work you want to do and find out what’s involved.

Here are five types of freelance writing work:

Content writing

This is the most popular form of work as a freelance writer because you’ll be expected to produce content for different websites.

This includes everything from articles, blog posts, social media updates, press releases, product descriptions, and so much more.

The important thing is to generate lots of ideas so you can apply for jobs on different writing sites because this is the type of work that brings in money fast.

Copywriting

The main difference between content writing and copywriting is that you’ll be writing sales copy for digital books, ebooks, software, membership sites, etc.

This means you should expect to not only be a writer but a great marketer so you can sell the product and persuade readers to buy it.

There are a lot of businesses that need promotional material for websites so there will be plenty of opportunities for people with good copywriting skills.

Ghostwriting

This form of writing is a bit different because you’ll be working anonymously and your client will claim the credit for what you produce.

To find jobs in this niche, look for people who need help with their memoirs, motivational books, business books, fiction books, and more.

Technical writing

Another great way to earn money as a writer is to find online jobs that offer technical or instructional writing for different products.

This type of work involves planning, organizing, and writing information manuals for products, including online courses, medical journals, and computer software.

Resume writing

People always need help when it comes to looking for a job so this is a great niche for writers.

As you can see, there are many different types of writing opportunities online so don’t limit yourself when looking for jobs.

Remember that the key to success is to have a good understanding of what type of work interests you and then apply for that kind of job.

Some companies do require a teaching certificate, a bachelors degree and maybe even TEFL or TESOL certifications.

However, if you do not meet these requirements don’t let it stop you from applying to online teaching jobs because there are many companies that don’t ask for them.

Before I go any further, let’s take a quick look at some of the reasons why teaching English online will benefit you:

  • It’s flexible – You can do it on your own time whenever it fits into your schedule.
  • There are platforms that have no requirements – The only thing you need is English fluency.
  • You decide who to work with – You can decide which students you would like to work with based on their level and needs.
  • You decide where to work –  Many companies with online teaching jobs let you work from anywhere.
  • You will have the chance to learn from different cultures – Teaching English online is a great way to meet students from around the world and learn about their culture.

Now that you understand why teaching English online is a great option, let’s go over some strategies that will allow you to start right away.

How much money could I earn as an online English teacher?

The amount of money you can earn really depends on the company you decide to work for.

But, many of them will offer a starting rate of about $9-40 USD per hour, depending on your level of expertise.

Teaching online is definitely a good way to earn some extra cash, especially if you are working with students who need your help.

How to prepare yourself to start teaching English online with no experience?

The first thing you’ll need to do is find a reputable company that hires teachers with little-to-no experience.

There are many companies out there who will not hire you without the proper qualifications and experience.

Luckily, there are a few platforms like that ones I mention below who you can work for even if you don’t have any experience.

Most of these companies will offer training and support which makes it easier to start teaching English online with no experience.

Here’s how they can help:

  • You can receive training –  some companies will offer free training courses to help you learn the ropes of teaching English online.
  • You can have supplemental materials provided – Some will provide you the needed materials so that you don’t have to purchase anything yourself.
  • You can be supported 24/7 –  they may offer round-the-clock support which can make it easier for those with little experience to feel more comfortable.
  • You can be paid weekly –  you’ll get your paycheck on a set day each week, so you won’t have to wait around for the money you earned. But this varies with each company, so make sure to check out their payment policy before you accept the job.

Once you have found the right platform to work with, it’s a good idea to prepare yourself for the job, especially if you are new to teaching.

You can do this by:

  • Taking some English courses –  Whether you live in an English-speaking country or at home, you can take online courses to improve your fluency.

  • Joining some forums –  There are a ton of forums out there that will give you advice on teaching English online and even help you find work.

  • Watching and learning from teacher trainings –  Some companies offer great training videos that will show you how to teach English online inside and out.

  • Researching the companies –  Find out what you can about each company before you apply and make sure that you understand their requirements.

  • Preparing for an interview –  Since you won’t be meeting face-to-face, most companies will conduct their interviews over the phone or through an online interview tool. So, you’ll want to brush up on your interview skills.

  • Giving yourself time –  Don’t expect it to happen overnight, become an expert in just a few days, or start making money right off the bat.

It’ll take some time for you to get started, but once you do it, it will be worth it!

Now that you’ve got all the details, it’s time to start looking into your options.

After all, there are tons of companies that hire online English teachers without experience so that you can start making money right away!

Key Takeaways

As you can see, there are many platforms that will allow you start teaching English online with no experience at all using either group or one on one classes.

And just because you have no experience with teaching English doesn’t mean that you will be a bad teacher, so don’t let this stop you from starting!

A few things to remember:

  • It will be helpful if you have some teaching experience but it’s not required by all platforms. However I do recommend having at least some experience through a class, volunteer work or even tutoring.

  • Make sure to read the requirements of each platform to make sure that you can start teaching English online with no experience.

  • Being able to set your own hours and pay can be a great benefit, but make sure you consider all of the current platforms that are out there before making the decision.

  • If you want to succeed working with one of these companies, make sure you understand how their platform works and what their students are looking for.

  • Most importantly, remember that teaching online is just like teaching in person! You will need to know how to teach English grammar and conversation skills before you can be effective at helping your students learn.

So if you’re interested in teaching online without any experience, consider your options above and find the platform or platforms that best suit your needs!

Have you ever wanted to make money online?

If you’re like most people, then the answer is probably yes.

In this article I will talk about the two different ways that you can make money when you flip websites.

The first way is building your own site and selling it for a profit.

The second is buying one and making changes or improvements in order to sell it for a higher price than what you paid for.

All these options have their own benefits, but there are also some downsides as well.

I’ll go over all these options so that you can decide which one is best for you!

What does it mean to flip websites?

First things first, what exactly is “flipping”?

Flipping means buying something at one price and selling it at another price for a profit.

So, when you flipping websites, it means buying a website and selling it for a profit.

There are several ways you can flip websites, but I will be focusing on the main two that most people use to make money online.

Which are building and buying, in order to sell your site for money.

How to build a website for flipping

The first way to get started is by building them from scratch.

Since you are starting from the ground up, you need to make sure that your site has potential before you spend any time or effort on it.

This option is ideal for someone who doesn’t have a whole lot of money to invest, but has more time.

Personally I don’t recommend this option for someone who wants fast cash because it does take a lot of time to build, but it can be a very lucrative option if you’re willing to put the time in.

So, how do you actually go about building your own website?

There are several steps you need to take in order to make sure that you’re building the best website possible.

Below are the steps I recommend all new website flippers take in order to build the most successful site possible.

Decide on your niche.

This is very important because it’s basically what your entire site is going to revolve around.

If you’re not sure which niche to choose, think about one that interests you and then try to find a unique angle to take on it.

A common mistake that many people who flip websites is choosing a niche that is either too broad or too narrow.

For example, you don’t want to choose something like “sports” as your niche because there are way too many sub niches within this main one, so it’s way too broad.

On the other side, you don’t want to choose something like “MLB news” as your niche because this is so narrow that it will be hard to get traffic and make sales with such a limited audience.

You can also use Google Trends to help you determine if there’s a high enough search volume in the niche you want to choose.

Setting up the site

Once you have found a winning niche it’s time to set up the website.

You need to make sure you have a beautiful theme and graphics that will attract readers and your potential site buyer.

You also need to have good content on your site that makes sense and is relevant to the niche you are writing about.

The first step to setting up your site is to look through a list of the best website hosts and choose one.

Here are the three that I highly recommend:

Bluehost

I recommend this Bluehost for beginners because it’s easy to navigate and use.

I personally used them when I first started, but moved to Siteground when I needed a faster hosting plan for my growing audience.

bluehost

Their price are very inexpesive, starting at $2.75 a month making them super affordable for any newbies who don’t have a lot of budget.

And an added bonus is they also include one free domain name for a year when you buy hosting for your site.

So if you are just starting out and want an affordable plan, then this is the perfect hosting plan for you!

Siteground

This is the current hosting site I am using now and love them.

I recommend getting their “grow big” plan since you can add unlimited websites in your hosting plan.

So if you want to add a few websites, you don’t need to worry and just create new niche sites as much as you want!

They also have great live chat support, and their servers are fast and reliable.

This might be a better option for those who want more technical know how of coding and site building and if you have a website that is currently growing.

WPEngine

This host is the most expensive of the three starting at $22 a month.

But I love WPEngine because they include 24/7 tech support, 10 premium themes with your purchase, daily backups, and so much more!

You won’t have to worry about anything because WPEngine will keep your site safe from hackers and viruses.

They also have great customer service which is helpful for beginners who are new to website building.

This is the perfect host for flippers who are more serious and want to get the best bang for their buck!

Once you choose your site hosting it is time to choose your domain name.

Choose your domain name

Your domain name is the way people will get to your website.

So it’s important to choose a good one that relates to your niche and has potential for great SEO, which we’ll cover later in this article.

I recommend using the same company that you purchased your hosting plan so it’ll be easier to keep track of everything.

Since I use Siteground, I purchased my domain through them for only $18 extra a year!

If you decide to get hosting on Bluehost, they include 1 year of free domain so you are all set.

After you have your hosting set up and domain name pointed to it, now it’s time to pick out a website building platform.

Choosing a website platform

There are many different platforms that you can choose from, but I prefer WordPress because it is easy to use and user friendly for beginners.

Worpress is a way that you can build websites, blogs, and even e-commerce stores using a simple interface.

You don’t need programming skills to use WordPress and it offers a number of free and paid themes with useful features.

Finding the right theme

Once you have found the right hosting company and WordPress platform, now it’s time to find the right theme.

This is one of the most important parts of building your site because it’s what readers will see first.

It is also important to choose a theme that is fast, so that you can give a great user experience.

Here are a few themes that I recommend:

  • Kadence for its easy and customizable templates
  • Astra for their fast, lightweight and customizable themes
  • Genesis Pro for its fast, secure, beautifully designed and SEO optimized themes

Having a fast theme is going to make a huge difference in your traffic because who wants to stay in a website that is slow to load!

Which can mean loosing a lot of readers and traffic.

Customize your site design

Once you have chosen a theme, it is time to customize it so that it fits into your niche.

Here are some things that you’ll want to add:

  • A contact page for people looking to connect with you or learn more about what you do.
  • An about page to get people excited and learn more about you or your business
  • Social media buttons to let people follow you on social sites like Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and more.
  • Blog posts to share your knowledge about your topic with your readers.

These are just a few things that you’ll want to add in order to attract your readers and build a community.

Writing the best content for your website

After you have set up your site, it is time to write the best content for your audience.

This is very important because it’s what people will read to see if they want to stay on your site or go elsewhere.

Here are some tips to keep in mind when writing great content:

  • Write blog posts that your ideal readers will want to learn about
  • Write in a conversational tone so it doesn’t come across as spam or boring
  • Include helpful links that your readers will find valuable and want to click on
  • Make sure the title is enticing, but doesn’t sound spammy
  • Link out to authority sites with great content, but don’t overdo it
  • Always keep the reader in mind when writing articles
  • Make sure to create evergreen (content that doesn’t become outdated) content from the start, so it will always be relevant
  • Make sure to write a blog post with each product you sell, this way people can get information and read reviews before buying anything
  • Be consistent in your posting rate (how often you publish blog posts). You’ll want to make sure it’s at least once a week or more if you can.

These are just a few of the things that you’ll want to consider when writing content, but it’s what will truly make your website stand out.

Now that you have chosen a platform, found a theme, and written the best content for your site, it is time to start building traffic.

Getting Traffic to Your Website

Now you have all of the basic pages set up and ready for traffic.

But if nobody can find them, then what’s the point?

Fortunately, there are many different strategies that you can use to get traffic to your website.

Here are some ideas:

Guest Posting – Write for other blogs in your niche and link back to your site.

Email outreach – Reach out to people in your niche and let them know about your new website.

Social media – Post interesting updates and follow others in your niche.

Pinterest – Create an account and pin to boards related to your niche.

SEO – Optimizing for search engine optimization is key to getting your site noticed by Google.

You can use a keyword search tool like Keysearch.co which will help you find the most popular keywords in your industry that you can use for SEO on your blog posts.

I personally love Kesearch and have used them for several years to rank #1 on Google for the keywords in my niche.

But I know how confusing SEO can be, especially if you are a beginner, that is why I highly recommend using this SEO Checklist tool to help you learn how to implement SEO to drive traffic to your website.

Their step by step guide is super easy to use and can help you rank on the first page of Google, even you have no idea what you’re doing!

Once you have completed these steps, then it’s time to start looking into the different ways that you can make money with your website.

Making Money with your website

Now it’s time for the fun part, monetizing your website!

Even though there are a ton of ways to make money on your site, I will be sharing three that could work for anyone.

Let’s take a look at each one separately.

1. Affiliate Marketing

The first way to make money from a website is through affiliate marketing.

In short, you review someone else’s product and add their affiliate link to your post.

Each time somebody clicks on that link and makes a purchase, you’ll get a commission for the sale.

But it will only work if you give your readers great content and information, which will gain their trust to buy what you recommend.

So make sure to only review products that you personally would recommend and actually use yourself.

For more information on affiliate marketing, I suggest checking out this guide here.

2. Selling Digital Products

The second way to make money from a website is through selling digital products.

For example, you might create an eBook or templates that teaches people something new or solves a problem that they are currently facing.

This is also a great way to make passive income because you create the product once and then continue to make money from it.

If you’re wondering how to get started with this, then you might want to check out this article.

3. Site Ads

The third way to make money from a website is through advertisements.

Essentially, you host banner ads or text links on your website that points to products and services which will earn you a commission from the advertiser.

In order to make money from site ads, you have to attract a large audience of loyal readers so that you can be accepted in ad agencies like Mediavine.

Most of these agencies have a minimum requirement for the amount of readers you have a month before they accept you, so make sure to check if you are eligible.

Once you know how much money you can make from each of these options, it’s time to come up with a plan for where most of your work and effort will go to.

You might decide that affiliate marketing is going to be your primary source of income, so you need to focus on giving great reviews for products and services that you can recommend.

On the other hand, if it’s going to be advertisements, then you’ll need to put more work into finding a popular niche and building an engaged audience of readers and followers.

By making this decision ahead of time, you’ll know where to take your site and your business.

But, it’s important to be flexible because if something isn’t working, then you need to be willing to change course so that you can still make money with your website.

Doing all of this can take a lot of time and effort to get it just right.

While building websites and flipping them may seem like a lot of work, there is a huge upside to doing it yourself: you keep 100% of your earnings.

If you are interested in learning more about how to build websites, check out our guide on it here: Ultimate Guide to Amateur Blogging.

How to buy then flip websites

The next way you can make money flipping websites is by buying an existing website.

Buying a website rather than building one yourself can be a huge time saver and it still allows you to make money online.

But you might be wondering how it works, so let’s go over the steps you need to take in order to buy a website.

First, find an appealing site that is already making money or has potential to make a lot of money.

It is important that you choose wisely because you are not only purchasing the domain and content, but also all of the future profits.

Next, you want to make sure you fully understand how the site makes money and if it’s a good investment.

You should have an idea of what type of business model they are following so you can use this information later on when optimizing your website for search engines.

Finally, reach out to the owner of the site and try to negotiate a deal.

Make sure that both of you are on the same page when it comes to the selling price so there aren’t any surprises.

Also, don’t be afraid to ask questions and use this information to help you make your decision so that you can buy the site if it’s a good investment.

Once you’ve negotiated the price with the owner, it will be time for the final steps in buying or making an offer on their website.

The way these transactions are typically handled is through escrow.com, which is a website that holds the money and insures both parties until everything has been transferred over to you.

Since the payment and sale of a website is usually worth thousands or even hundreds of thousands of dollars, it’s nice to know that there is a 3rd party who will make sure that both parties honor their end of the agreement.

Where to Flip Websites for Money

Now that you know how to buy a website, it’s time to figure out the best places to flip websites for money.

There are many ways to sell a website, but we will go over the most popular options below:

1. Find an interested buyer through your personal network.

This is probably one of the easiest ways to find someone who wants to buy your site.

All you have to do is post on your LinkedIn, Facebook, or other social media accounts letting people know that you are interested in selling your website and what type of site you are looking to sell (make sure to include any traffic numbers).

Chances are someone who knows someone else will be interested in buying the site, which makes it easy to sell.

But if this doesn’t work, don’t worry there are specific sites that can help you.

2. Sell your site on a marketplace.

Here are a few legit online marketplaces that people go to in order to find websites that are for sale:

Flippa

This is one of the most popular marketplaces to sell and buy websites.

Not only that, Flippa is especially useful because you can get an idea of how much a website is worth and what the average price for a particular site is (based on sales and auctions).

Flippa has thousands of websites listed to buy or sell, so you might find something that is perfect for you.

Investors.club

They provide members with a list of investment opportunities.

These could be businesses that are for sale or profitable money-making websites that you can buy and flip in order to make money online.

They charge the seller a 5% brokers fee, which is a great deal as many other marketplaces charge a much higher fee.

3. Website Broker

A website broker is someone who makes their living buying and selling websites.

This is the best option for you if you are looking for a quick sale, since these people are always on the lookout of good deals to buy.

Just keep in mind that some companies will just want to buy your site for the traffic and content, while others might actually be interested in buying the site because they also want to keep it up and running.

Here are a few legit website brokers:

Empire Flippers

This site, just like Flippa, allows people to list, buy or sell websites in different categories.

They also have their own database of websites that are listed on the site.

All you have to do is create an account and look for websites that you might be interested in.

The Website Flip Brokerage

This brokerage is unique because they sell sites through their email list, so you have to be an email subscriber in order to get the great deals!

Even if you do not know how to build a website from scratch, there are many options for buying one from marketplaces or website brokerages.

Flip Websites: Frequently asked Questions

How much can you make flipping websites?

The amount of money you can make from flipping websites depends on a number of factors, such as the type of website that you are buying or selling and how much work you put into it.

If you find a site for sale that is already making a profit and buy it with hopes to keep the traffic going, there’s no reason why you can’t start making money within the first few weeks if you put in the time and effort.

On the other hand if you are selling your site, according to Forbes, you should aim for 24-36x your monthly revenue.

So if you are making $1,000 a month on your website, you should sell for around $24,000 – $36,000.

Sounds like a lot of money? Not really, because the person who buys your site will have continous income for years to come if they do the work that needs to be done.

If you want to get a better idea of how much websites in your niche are currently selling, here are a few sites where you should look:

  • FE International
  • Empire Flippers
  • Flippa

The biggest thing to remember when it comes to making money flipping websites is to do your research and take action!

How much work do you have to put into it?

This is a common question that a lot of new website flippers might have.

The truth is you have to put in the work, but it really depends on the condition of the site and how much you want to get out of it.

It also depends on the site that you are looking to buy or sell.

Finding a website for sale online is easy, but if it’s too good to be true chances are there will be issues down the road.

However, if you find a website that is in good condition and up and running, it’s likely that the seller has already spent some time on creating content, adding relevant keywords to their site, and setting up social media accounts.

After you buy the website (which means you own 100% of it), you’ll most likely want to continue working with it to improve the site and make it look like something that is worth money.

You’ll also want to put in time in optimizing your content through SEO, and promoting the website by sharing it with others in your niche (to get organic traffic).

Do you have to be tech savvy?

You don’t have to be tech savvy to flip websites, but it certainly helps if you are.

Some new flippers might want to start off slow until they get the hang of everything, which means buying a website that is already built.

However, you can learn how to build your own site through trial and error and ofcourse we also have a ton of tips here.

Keep in mind that starting out with building websites can be very difficult because there are so many different things that you have to think about.

But all the hard work will pay off and could make you a lot of money.

Because whether you build a site or buy one, you should have a good idea of how to run it so it can keep making money for you or the buyer you flip it to.

What types of websites can I flip?

There are many different types of websites that you can flip, which is why it’s important to have a few options in mind before you get started.

You can buy and sell websites in almost every niche, but here are some of the most popular sites that people are flipping right now:

Food

Fitness

Travel

Pets

Finance

You need to know what you’re interested in and how much profit you might stand to make before you start flipping websites, which is why it’s recommended that your first flip should be something easy.

However, keep in mind that if you want to make more money off of a website it will take more time and effort.

For example, a site that sells for $200 might not make as much as a site that is worth $20,000 because the traffic volume will be low.

So it is just a matter of what you are willing to do and how much budget you have.

Guide to Flip Websites: Key Takeaways

You can make a full time income off of flipping websites, but you need to be willing to put in the work that is required.

Keep in mind that it’s not going to happen overnight and there will be many failures along the way.

It’s also important for new website flippers to learn how to build their own site, but if you aren’t comfortable with that then buying one is an option.

When buying a website it’s important to do your research and make sure there are no issues.

You can learn how to identify problems by researching reviews, talking to the seller, and asking questions in forums.

It might take some time but you’ll improve with experience and then you can start making larger flips that will lead to more profits.

But like any business, there is always risk…

Now that you know more about the different options that are available for website flippers, it’s time to get started with building your own business!

The sooner you start making money off of these sites the higher ROI you will have for each one!

So what are you waiting for?

Go out there and start making money flipping websites!

Now that you know the best secret shopping sites to visit, what does it actually take to be successful?

1.  It takes a lot of patience to be an effective shopper, so it is important to take your time and be patient with the work you are given.

2. You also need to be able to prioritize your time well since you are getting paid for each task that you complete.

3. Spend time looking at each store’s website before you go, so that you can be familiar with what they offer.

4. Make sure to follow all of the mystery shopping company’s guidelines for completing your task, or else it can affect your feedback!

5. After the task is complete, be sure to submit it and get reimbursed.

This list of tips just scratches the surface – there are other things that you could potentially learn to become a successful mystery shopper!

How do you get paid as a secret shopper?

Many companies hire mystery shoppers so they can get feedback on customer service quality.

Every company has its own guidelines, but here are several ways that you could be paid after finishing your task:

1. You may receive reimbursement for the items or services you used during the assignment.

2. Your reward can come in the form of a stipend, so you can use it for anything!

3. Some shoppers are paid via check or PayPal.

4. Another way that shoppers are compensated is to receive points that they can redeem for an incentive down the road.

You could also get points as a bonus after completing your assignment well!

5. Some shoppers are given gift cards for completing their tasks successfully.

These are just a few of the ways secret shoppers can get paid, but all in all, it’s always nice to get something back for your time!

How to avoid scams on mystery shopping sites

It can be tough going through all of the mystery shopping sites out there to find a legitimate company.

If you are interested in applying for a job, here are some useful information on how to avoid the common scams when searching online:

1. Make sure you know exactly how much a company is going to pay you for a job.

Typically, mystery shoppers can expect $10-$20 per hour for their work.

If someone is offering you a rate that seems too good to be true, there’s probably a reason why!

Remember: if it sounds like they are trying to rush you into signing up or spending money before learning all of the details about the job, it is probably a scam.

2. Some mystery shopping companies will ask you to pay money upfront – avoid these businesses!

Rip-off artists will use this as a way to scam people into spending money that they don’t need to.

There are plenty of legitimate mystery shopping companies that will pay you for your time and expertise – but you should never have to spend any of your own money as part of the hiring process.

However, there are assignments where you will be asked to pay for an item or a service that you are using, but you will get reimbursed after your job is done.

3. Do your research before applying for any mystery shopping job.

If you are interested in working for a company, start by checking their website to make sure they are legitimate.

You should be able to find customer testimonials, details on when/where you will be shopping, and contact information without any issues.

4. Do not share any personal information with companies that you don’t know very well!

No legitimate company will ask for your Social Security number, bank account, or credit card information.

If someone does ask you for this information, it is a scam and they are not interested in actually hiring you.

5. Beware of mystery shopping sites that do not have a legit website, phone number, or email.

Always look for a contact address of some kind – if the mystery shopping company has zero information besides a phone number or form, they are probably fake.

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are responses to some of the most common questions about secret shopping:

1.  Do you need a degree to become a mystery shopper?

No, there is no official education requirement and it is an entry-level position.

This means that you can be paid for your time and learn how to become an effective shopper without any experience.

2. How is the payment determined?

The type of job and the length of the assignment will decide how much money you get per hour or what kind of reimbursements can be made with the mystery shopping sites.

3. Do I need my own car?

Some mystery shopping sites will reimburse you for the cost of gas or public transportation needed to complete your task, while others may ask that you pay out of pocket.

4. How do I keep my notes organized?

It can be helpful to get in the habit of digital note-taking so that you don’t have to worry about being overwhelmed.

You could also try using a phone application to take pictures of the experience since many have functionality that lets you tag the businesses with a location.

5. How can I find out what companies are hiring?

Most secret shopping sites will post job listings on their website as well as on their social media pages or by emailing you.

Also, many of the assignments listed will need little to no prior experience, so it can be a great way to start!

6. What should I wear?

The best way to look professional for your assignment is by wearing business casual clothing.

Some companies may ask for you to dress more formally while other companies may ask you to dress in your normal everyday clothing.

7. How do I get reimbursed for my expenses during the assignment?

Each company has its own way of working out reimbursement, but some of them will reimburse you on the spot or through PayPal while others may ask you fill out an expense report before you are reimbursed.

8. What happens if I’m not approved?

Not all companies will hire you since every company has its own approval process.

If you are rejected by one company, don’t be discouraged – there are plenty of other mystery shopping sites that would love to have your help!

9. When should I expect to be paid?

According to Indeed, most secret shoppers are typically reimbursed within a week or two of completing their assignment.

But you should always check the site to make sure what their policy is on payments.

10. How do the companies find out the results of my work?

Each company has its own process for finding out about your experience and some may contact you directly.

You can also check out specific company websites to learn more about their submission process for reports.

What is a travelling vlog?

Before you even think about starting, you might want to know what a travelling vlog actually is.

A vlogger films themselves exploring new locations, usually with commentary or narration along the way.

It can be anything from showcasing the sights and sounds of the city, to following someone’s experiences abroad.

These types of vlogs are often aimed at inspiring others to travel, so be sure that this is something that you’re passionate about before you begin.

If you want to start your own vlog then it’s worth considering the reasons behind why you’re doing it in the first place.

A travelling vlog isn’t just a fun hobby or a way to share your life with others.

You’ll need to commit yourself to make regular videos and sharing them online.

It’s important that you’re doing this for the right reasons such as helping others, inspiring people, and having fun!

What equipment will I need?

To create your own travelling vlog you’ll need a decent camera, tripod, and microphone.

Best cameras for vlogging

There are several different types of cameras that you can choose from.

If you’re on a tight budget then you might want to consider a digital camera or phone with video capabilities.

Best Digital cameras:

Also, having multiple cameras on hand will allow you to create more visual content.

How to make money from traveling vlogging

If you want to make money there are several options available for you.

The first and most common way is to run advertisements on your videos before uploading them online.

YouTube then shares the revenue with you.

Alternatively, another way that vloggers are making money these days is by charging for sponsorships or product placements in their videos.

But, this is something that you can do once you understand what your audience wants and needs.

How often should I upload videos?

Your filming schedule is completely up to you!

However, what’s important is that you’re consistent with your uploading time so that people know when to expect a new video from you.

It’s also beneficial for you to have a schedule so that you can plan to film and edit in advance.

There are several vloggers who upload once a week, every other day or every day depending on what works best for them.

So don’t feel pressured to get the next video published straight away – take your time and get it right.

You’ll be glad you took the time to do this when your videos are regular, well structured, and engaging for everyone who watches them.

travelling vlog

What types of things should I vlog about?

This is something that you need to think long and hard about.

Everyone has a different type of traveling blog based on what excites them.

Maybe you love showing off your hometown, or maybe you want to explore the world and share your adventures with others.

The easiest way is to think about what would make YOU happy if you were watching a video online.

Would you enjoy seeing B roll shots of scenic views?

Or maybe you’d love to know more about the person who’s filming and hear their story?

There are no hard and fast rules as long as you’re having fun with what you’re doing.

But as a general rule, it helps if your video is focused on a theme or topic.

Here are a few examples of travel vlogging themes:

  • Travel diaries
  • City guides
  • Reviews of restaurants, hotels, etc.
  • Family travel
  • Moving and living abroad

It could be a mix of different genres which is entirely up to you.

Just know that it’s easier to find an audience if people can easily relate to what you’re filming about.

Pros and Cons of being a travel vlogger

There are a ton of benefits that come from being a traveling vlogger, but let’s start with the downsides.

Remember that you’re going to be putting your face out there for everyone to see and critique.

This means that anything negative said about you online will affect your reputation.

You’ll need to think about this from the start and build a strong online presence to stand up against any haters.

After all, the internet is a cruel place so it’s important to be prepared!

The other negative point of being a travel vlogger is that you’re going to have to spend time away from your friends and family while you move around.

So if you plan on doing this for a living then it’s important to ask yourself: can I spend months at a time away from my loved ones?

Now, let’s talk about the benefits:

Travel vloggers get to see the world and show others what they’re seeing.

It’s a creative outlet for people who enjoy filming and creating videos.

Another great benefit of starting a vlog is that you can make money from your videos.

There are a few different ways to make money from YouTube videos:

Google ads – These pop up over your video and can be a great way to make extra cash.

Product placements – You can sign an agreement with a company to mention and promote their products in your video.

Sponsorships – This is another way to get paid by companies who want you to tell people about their products and services.

But, there’s a catch!

You’ll need to have a following that’s enthusiastic about the content that you’re creating if you want to make any money.

This means that you’ll need to put in the work before you see the rewards, but if you’ve got this then you can consider travel vlogging as a viable career option!

How do I start my own travel vlog?

Now that you’ve thought about the different types of traveling vlogs and what excites you, it’s time to make a plan.

You can either dive in and start filming and editing, or you can be more organized and research how other travel vloggers got started.

Coming up with a step-by-step plan before you start filming will help you stay focused on what’s important and prevent yourself from getting overwhelmed.

So let’s look at some of the steps:

Step 1: Work out your story and what will make people want to keep watching.

Every video has to have a beginning, middle, and end.

Start by thinking about some of your favorite travel vloggers and how they started out.

For example, maybe some of them discussed how they wanted to move to a new city but didn’t really know anyone there?

Their first video could then be all about their first few days in the new place and how they feel about it so far.

Step 2: Plan out what your first video will be about.

Rather than diving in and filming anything that comes to mind, sit down with a pen and paper to brainstorm the topic for your very first video.

You can then narrow it down by asking yourself these questions:

Will this promote the location I’m at?

Will this promote me or my brand?

Is there a big event happening near me that I can film for my first video?

travelling vlog

Step 3: Figure out how much time you have each day to film.

If you want to keep your subscribers entertained and coming back for more, then it’s important to release a steady stream of videos.

That way they’ll never be left wondering what happened to the travel vlogger they were following – this is really important if you want people to watch your videos!

So think about how much time you have each day and how you can structure your filming schedule to accommodate that.

Step 4: Learn the basics of video editing

Technology is constantly changing, but it’s important to always learn the latest skills for any new job you take on.

Luckily, there are plenty of free tutorials available online and on YouTube that will teach you how to use free editing software like iMovie, Windows Movie Maker, and Final Cut Pro.

Step 5: Start your website and social media accounts for your vlogging adventures.

These are the easiest ways to start growing your audience so you can start making money!

It’s also a good idea to set up your very own domain name (like www.yourvlogsname.com) because this will help you grow your online presence and establish yourself as an influencer in the community!

Step 6: Find ways to promote all of your hard work.

Start by joining Facebook groups and forums related to your travelling vlog niche.

For example, if your blog is about traveling in Southeast Asia, there are plenty of Facebook groups all about that!

You can also contact other travel vloggers in the community and see if they’d be interested in doing a collaboration with you.

This will help you both grow your audience and establish yourself as an expert!

If you do a collaboration, try to film at least two videos together so people can get excited about it and know you well.

Step 7: Stay organized.

Finally, once you start filming and growing your audience, you need to stay on top of all the new opportunities coming in.

You don’t want to miss out on any opportunities because you’re too overwhelmed with all of your daily tasks!

So set up a schedule for everything you need to do, like contacting travel brands for sponsorship.

It’s also important to have an editorial calendar so you know what videos are coming up and when they’ll be released.

Step 7: Find help when you need it!

Just like anything else, running your own travel vlog is a lot of work and it can be overwhelming – especially in the beginning!

So don’t be afraid to hire help when you need it.

Don’t know how to edit or do graphic design?

There’s plenty of freelancers on sites like Fiverr who will be happy to help with a reasonable price!

You can also check out this book: So You Want to Vlog?: How to start from scratch, find your voice & share your stories

It’s a great book that breaks down all of the essentials you need to know about starting a vlog.

Why you should start a travelling vlog

Like I said earlier if you haven’t been vlogging before it is important to make sure you do it for the right reasons.

If you’re passionate about something, don’t let fear hold you back.

Go out there and show the world what you have to offer!

Here are some reasons why you should start your travel vlog:

You are your own boss!

Nobody can tell you that things need to be done differently or how to look or speak on camera because it’s your channel!

It’s your creativity and personality that people are subscribing to, so rock it out and show the world what you’re made of.

There are so many new opportunities available to you.

You can network with other vloggers, promote yourself on social media and work with brands just by being creative!

And, if you’re lucky enough to get to this stage, you can start working towards making money from your vlog!

Now that you know all about why you should start, it’s time to go out there and get doing it!

So, what are you waiting for?

Gather your camera equipment together, come up with a topic, film your first video and upload it to YouTube!
